Jilly B’s, a froyo, cupcake and bauble boutique, opened this past August in Cherry Hill’s Holly Ravine shopping center. Under the aesthetic eye of interior designer/owner Jill Schafer (Jill’s mom, Joy, shares ownership), Jilly B’s is half eat-in dessert shop (in the store’s front with counter seating and gorgeous marble table and chairs) and half gift shop (in the back with shelves of fancy frames, fun housewares and fashion jewelry).
“As an interior designer, I naturally love accessories. I also love sweets and gift-giving so I put it all together at Jilly B’s,” says Schafer. Schafer felt like this neighborhood would enjoy a lick of luxe. “People around here are well-traveled, going to Philly and New York for something different. But, why should they have to leave this area for that?”
Although you don’t have to travel far to get to Jilly B’s, for sure you’ll feel miles away from any overcrowded mini mall: with one glimpse you’ll imagine yourself at fancy ice cream parlor in Palm Beach or the Hamptons, with another you’ll be twirling around your fashion-forward granny’s vanity in her pearls.
True, the weather has turned bone-chilling and eating frozen foodstuffs may not sound like something you’re game for, but it’s good, believe us. And they brew La Colombe coffee if you gotta warm up.
The yogurt is all-natural and contains probiotics, which is all sorts of good for all sorts of bodily functions. The flavored yogurts are a bit sweeter while the original flavor is more tart. Top your cups off with any combo of embellishments from crushed animal crackers and brownies to fresh fruit – ask for a Dizzy B if you want it all whipped together. Prices range from $2.95-4.50. Cupcakes ($3 each) are good, too, and on top of the everyday chocolate and red velvet some seasonal ones, like egg nog and gingerbread, are offered as well.
While you’re stuffing your face, do something nice for someone else and take a gander at the giftables. Jilly B’s can decorate any gift (think platters) with cupcakes or chocolate-covered pretzels then wrap it all nice and stuff.
